Muhammad
Sharif Mutamid Khan, who was a military officer in the army of Jahangir, wrote
this book in the concluding years of the reign of Jahangir after the completion
of Tuzuk-i-Jahangiri. This book is divided into three parts. The first parts
deals with the history of Amir Timur to Humanyun. The Second refers to Akbar
and the third contains the history of the reign of Jahangir. It also contains
the accession of Shahjahan to the throne, the punishment given to Khusrau’s
supporters.
The
influence of Nurjahan on the contemporary politics and epidemic which broke out
during the regime of Jahangir, have also been discussed in this book. Mutamid
Khan was a contemporary of Jahangir and hence he watched most of his activities
personally and has depicted all the events in detail which occurred during the
period.
